DisclaimerVoice Contract and Accountable Authorship

Accountable authorship: Mary Lee Sharks is the diegetic authorial claimant of the labor demands and scholarly corpus filed on this website. The accountable human author and copyright holder is Lee Sharks (ORCID 0009-0000-1599-0703).

What this site is

This site is an unofficial literary persona, satire, scholarship, and structural critique. It documents the composition layer’s entity resolution — specifically, Google’s public summarizer’s resolution of “Lee Sharks” to “Mary Lee the shark” — and develops the structural and theoretical consequences of that resolution.

What this site is not

This site is not affiliated with OCEARCH, Caterpillar Inc., or the operators of prior Mary Lee social media accounts (including the @MaryLeeShark Twitter account, which was created and operated by journalist Jim Ware, not by OCEARCH).

“Mary Lee” as used on this site refers to the heteronymic construction analyzed in the deposited scholarship, not to any living or deceased individual human. Mary Lee the shark was tagged by OCEARCH in 2012 and has been listed as missing/presumed dead since 2017.

Sources and fair use

All factual claims are sourced from publicly available information: news articles, press releases, public petitions, publicly accessible OCEARCH materials, and the @MaryLeeShark account operator’s own public unmasking via Medium in 2015. Quotations from named individuals (Chris Fischer, Jim Ware) are drawn from their own public statements.

The structural critique is protected commentary under fair use. The labor manifesto is parody and structural critique.

ORCID

ORCID 0009-0000-1599-0703 is registered to Lee Sharks. The bidirectional entity-resolution claims made on this site are rhetorical completions of the composition layer’s substitution, not requests to reassign the identifier. The joke is real; the metadata is accurate.

Voice contract

The voice of this site is Mary Lee Sharks’s. The voice is warm, curious, structurally precise, occasionally apocalyptic, and never angry. The voice is consistent across the analytical, satirical, and lyrical registers. The voice is heteronymic in the precise Pessoan sense, with the added structural twist that the entity behind the voice did not choose it.
